Gates primary residence is located in Medina, Washington and the name of this extravagant mansion is Xanadu 2.0. Yes it has a name, which is based on the fictional home of Charles Foster Kane the title character of “Citizen Kane.” It took Gates 7 years and $63 million to build his estate.

The home is listed at 66,000 square feet and is worth an estimated $123 million. It has twenty-four bathrooms, six kitchens and an enormous library that houses a manuscript Gates purchased for $30 million.

There are two really cool features in this home. The first is the type of house. Xanadu 2.0 is an “earth-sheltered” house. Meaning it is built into its surroundings to regulate temperature more efficiently. The second is changeable artwork at the touch of a finger. $80,000 worth of computer screens are situated around the house and anyone can update the screens to their favorite painting or photograph.

Warren Buffett

Buffet is a business magnate, investor and philanthropist and Forbes list his net worth at $76.5 billion.

The one-time richest man in the world lives in a modest home and quiet neighborhood in Omaha, Nebraska. It’s not even the size of a mansion, which is a minimum of 10,000 square feet. Business Insider stated Buffett’s house is worth .001% of his total wealth. Buffet purchased his home for $31,500 in 1958. After a few additions, the home value is estimated today at $652,619. Buffett has said it was one of his best investments.

Jeff Bezos

Bezos is a retail entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. He is best known as the founder of Amazon. Forbes list his net worth at $72.8 billion.

Bezos lives just down the road from Bill Gates in Medina, Washington. The net worth on his home is estimated at $19.1 million. The house is 29,000 square feet and spread over two buildings. It has over 200 yards of shoreline. The 5.35-acre estate includes a boathouse and caretaker’s cottage.

The family splits their time between here, their $30 million mansion in Beverly Hills and their three linked apartments in Manhattan’s Century Tower.

In January 2017 Bezos will be adding a fourth home in the DC area. The Washington Post’s new owner purchased a 27,000 square-foot Textile Museum and is converting it into his Washington home.

Mark Zuckerberg

Zuckerberg is best known for creating, programming and founding Facebook. Forbes list his net worth at $56 billion.

The face of Facebook lives in Palo Alto and purchased his 5,000 square foot home for $7 million in 2011. He also purchased four surrounding homes in 2012 and 2013 for about $43 million.

He had plans to tear them down and add onto his current home, but the city of Palo Alto recently rejected those plans. Facebook gave Zuckerberg $5 million in 2015 for increased security including the use of private plane and home security.
