Donny O’Malley Founder And CEO Of Vet Tv

Interview with Donny O’Malley founder and CEO of Vet Tv.

What is your company and what is its main goal?

VET Tv – Veteran Television, is a vertically-integrated over-the-top (OTT) subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service that specializes in creating, producing, self-distributing, self-financing, and marketing military comedy films and television series whose primary audience is the military and veteran community. Historically, there has always been a strong desire to create content that peers inside the military life.  Through the lens of satire, we have developed our own unique perspective that captures the dark and irreverent humor of our troops.

When did you start your business and why?

VET Tv launched in June 2017 with a goal of recreating and parodying the military experience for United States service members past and present, in order to promote camaraderie and prevent suicide.

What makes you different from your competition?

VET Tv, it’s a streaming video on demand (SVOD) channel that’s for lack of a better explanation, sort of the Comedy Central of the military. We’ve got roughly 40,000 monthly subscribers on a platform that’s available on iTunes and Google Play in which we’ve launched 13 original series and one feature film, and we’re just wrapping up filming and production of our 14th. Admittedly our programming on VET Tv is dark and irreverent humor, but it’s programming written by vets for vets. Our founder and CEO, Donny O’Malley, is a retired Marine Captain who spent nearly six years in the Corps and served as an infantry officer, rifle platoon commander and fire support team leader before doing his final stint in the Marines with the Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Pendleton.

What marketing channels do you use for your growth?

We use an integrated digital marketing strategy with a list of over 200,000 unique emails and a social reach in excess of 12 million unique people per month. Our audience primarily consists of the following: Males, 18-34 years old, served or is serving in the military, primarily located around military bases in CA, NC, and TX. We have garnered a worldwide footprint in 135 countries

What are you expected to grow in terms of revenue in the next 12 months?

In 24 months, our subscriber base has grown steadily to over 41,000 subscribers and we are forecasted to grow to 50,000 subscribers by 2020 and 100,000 subscribers by 2021. We generated $1 million in our first fiscal year and $2.2 million in our second year, and are projecting to do roughly $3.5 million in revenue in 2020.
