It’s safe to say that the power of a good franchise’s are the actors behind them.
One of the most successful franchises of all time, Fate Of The Furious has given Vin Diesel the title of top-grossing actor of 2017. Diesel has brought in $1.6 billion in global ticketing receipts for 2017. Fate of the Furious was the major contributor to making him take the title. Bringing in $1.2 billion at box office. XXX: The Return of Xander Cage helped boost his sales by another $400 million giving his total $1.6 billion.
In 2015 Diesel told Forbes “The whole point of The Fast and the Furious was to diversify Hollywood and in some ways change the face of Hollywood.” He was referring to the multicultural cast.
Coming in at number two is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who scored $1.5 billion which his majority also comes from Fate of the Furious. Something that didn’t help him much was his highly anticipated Baywatch failure that only brought in $178 million.
Gal Gadot grabs spot number three with her outstanding work in Wonder Woman. Gadot brought in a close $1.4 billion worldwide. $822 million came directly from Wonder Woman which also became the highest-grossing live-action movie ever directed by a woman. Justice League helped add another $650 million to her total.
It’s insane to think that actors are bringing in over a billion dollars collectively per year. Do you believe franchises have an easier time bringing in money over a first time flick?
